The National Service Scheme (NSS), established in 1969, is a voluntary organisation of young people, especially college students, to work for campus-community linkages. The key aim is to develop students’ personality through community service.
The NSS wing of Dashmesh Khalsa College, Zirakpur offers a platform to the students for community work, social service and inculcating a sense of involvement in the task of nation building. It is functioning under the able guidance of NSS programme officer, Dr Jaswinder Kaur. The NSS unit of college emphasises on providing opportunities and access to the underprivileged in education and health. Various activities are organised throughout the year to channelise the energy and thought process of the younger generation into creative pursuits. They educate and create awareness in students and society regarding key issues such as environment, pollution, health, sanitation, etc. Various health camps are organised in the campus regularly to create awareness among the students as well as the locals. Various rallies and cleanliness drives are also taken out in nearby areas to motivate people to work towards a cleaner and healthier environment.
